Wood Carver Show at the Merry-Go-Round Museum
September 07, 2016
The Merry-Go-Round Museum's annual Wood Carver Show is scheduled on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 10 am to 4 pm with free admission to the show and $1 carousel rides throughout the day. With more than twenty wood carvers demonstrating their craft, the opportunity will be available to purchase their artwork.
“The museum's exhibit this year focuses on the artistry needed to create carousel animals,” said Kurri Lewis, executive director at the museum. “But the woodcarvers at the show offer a distinctly different view point through their own works.”
“Carousels: A True American Art Form” is the latest exhibit at the museum. Carvers and the animals created for the amusement park ride are featured with background on the artists, on a journey through carousel evolution. This includes a chance to learn about menagerie carousels, and the animals that populate these fabulous works of art. Animals from the Charlotte Dinger Collection that have not previously been on public display will be on view during this exhibit.
